Longsword or Fellblade are about the biggest thing you'll find.

Spatha's (AKA Forked Sword earlier on in the game) have a rather wide blade, but I wouldn't call them "big" by any means. A Long Sword that was dropped from a monster looks like a one-handed claymore. Don't mistake that with a Collector's Long Sword, as that's this black short sword looking thing. Fellblades look like something Cloud Strife should be holding, IMO. They're about as long as a droped Long Sword, and a bit wider than the Spatha.

Swords have 2 user modable items. Hilts and Pommels. Hilts are typically damage mods nd Pommels are typically fortitude or defense.
Common hilts ahead an elemental damage; ebon, firey, icy, shocking, armor pentetration: sundering, and adrenaline boosts; furious. Sundering is the most expensive while being the least efective. Common Pommels are health bonuses, +20 to +30, or defense, +3 to +5 armor, +5 to +7 against physical or elemental damage. There are rarer Pommels that have damage boosts against specific monster types, Charr Slaying, Dwarf Slaying, and others. If there isn't a built in damage mod on the sword I wouldn't spend a lot of miney on mods for it. You can only salvage one of them and won't ever recoup the investment made. Best mod is to customize it for 10 gold which adds a always 20% damage boost. After customizing a weapon no other character can ever use it. Not even one you make with the same name. |

*points at Radiant* Hehe looks like someone's a Cloud wannabe.
Just couldn't resist poking at you a bit, Radiant. Nevertheless, welcome! Hope you find something you're happy with. EDIT: I don't have the link because I'm at parents' for holidays but I think if you do a search on yahoo or whatever for 'Tyrian Explorers League' or something I believe they have pictures of all weapons in game including swords.
